If you want to keep your home comfortable and warm, maintaining your boiler is of utmost importance. Whether you’re in need of a new heating system or simply need updates or repairs to your current boiler, our HVAC experts are here to answer your questions and walk you through your options.
When it comes to boilers, there are three types:
- Gas – Gas boilers are fueled by natural gas, and pumped through a gas line beneath the house. The gas keeps a pilot light lit, which warms the heating coils in the boiler. Heat is then passed along to the water in the tank.
- Electric – An electric boiler is a large tank with an inlet and outlet. Electricity warms up the water to very high temperatures before an electric pump moves the fluid to the radiator in the home.
- Oil – Oil boilers are typically found in areas that have little or no access to natural gas. They run in tandem with home heating oil, which is stored in a fuel tank
Boilers function quietly and are good for homes that do not have ductwork. They are often used in radiant floor systems.
ProFlo recommends scheduling your boiler service once per year, ideally in late summer, so that you can ensure your heating unit is ready for the coming chill.
